The Full Story

Hi! I’m Sarah Wilkinson, CPA and proud founder of Wilkinson Accounting Solutions, LLC. I was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio, and after a winding journey through the world of accounting from small-town offices to large public accounting firms, I’ve made my way back home to do what I love most: helping local business owners make sense of their numbers.

I kicked off my career during college, working at J.E. Slaybaugh and Associates in the heart of the Village of Lexington. After graduating from Ashland University, I dove headfirst into the world of bookkeeping, payroll, and tax prep for local people and small businesses. That hands-on experience laid the foundation for everything that followed.

In 2006, my husband Marc and I made the move to Cleveland, and I took on new challenges at Grant Thornton—a global public accounting firm. There, I worked with a wide range of clients, from large and mid-sized companies to high-net-worth individuals. My days were filled with tax prep and planning, IRS exam support, and some really interesting consulting projects involving everything from cost segregation studies to foreign tax credit analysis.

Eventually, I joined the IRS, specializing in international individual compliance. I spent 15 years helping navigate complex issues like foreign bank account reporting, tax treaty provisions, and foreign earned income exclusions. It was intense, rewarding, and a deep dive into the world of IRS policy, audits, and international taxation.

 

Now back in Mansfield, I’ve returned to my roots. Through Wilkinson Accounting Solutions, I provide down-to-earth, personalized tax and accounting services for businesses and individuals, always aiming to make finances feel a little less daunting and a lot more manageable.

When I’m not knee-deep in tax forms, you’ll find me gardening, working on DIY projects, or hanging out with Marc and our furry crew: Neva, Belle, and Corey (our dogs), and Ricky and Fizzy (our cats).
